 The benefits of Music education have been well documented and should be a
necessary component of the curriculum of every child. Music should also be
included in the recreational activities of every adult as well. Every effort
should be made to find ways to incorporate the various components of the
music lessons metaphorically into the rest of our lives. The lessons form
music study are various: patience, problem solving, creativity, self
expression, concentration and memorization, to name a few.
There are gaps in our
culture that seem to become wider every year. Music and other Arts can serve
to show us that on a deep level we are basically all the same, with the same
hopes and desires for happiness and understanding as all the world's people.
Music is a medium that
transcends all barriers of language, caste and community. It advocates
peace, harmony and joy.
For
all the students at Neerja Modi School music is an integral part of the
curriculum. The great number of ensembles, choral and instrumental offers
performance opportunities to students, whatever their level of expertise. There is exceptionally
strong professional support for every kind of musical endeavour,
whether it is music theory classes, classical singing groups, work in the
Electronic Music Studio, Drumming, Tabla or just taking lessons on one of
the multitude of instruments taught on the campus.
