Good
Education should engage the whole personality and happen in real life
context. It should be student centered, be a process of problem solving and
result in mutual communication between the teacher and the taught. For this
reason the role of teacher should be different than the usual "The One Who
Knows all". The two commonly upheld educational arguments are best
understood against two different educational approaches. The first one is
the knowledge centered traditionalist view where as the second one is that
kind of child centered education which believes that uninhibited free
expression is the basis of a child's natural learning.
Our
own Philosophy however is somewhere between the two. We respect knowledge
but along with it we advocate that education must deal with the other parts
of the personality too.
A liberal education
serves to broaden horizons, break down prejudices, and build inquiring
minds. It is of value no matter what the students goal may be. Theatre and drama are
concerned with all aspects of human experiences. They help children to
imaginatively enter experiences. This process enables them to order,
clarify and understand their own lives and the world in which they live.
Theatre is a form of human
knowledge, but one that functions through feeling as much as through
thought.
