Inauguration
Neerja Modi School National Art Camp 2008
December 2008 was an exciting month at the
NMS campus. We ended the year with a bang -The Neerja Modi School Art camp,
an integral part of the Visual and Performing Art Centre that the school
envisages to open in the near future. The camp undoubtedly was a huge
success. There is no denying that a huge part of the Neerja Modi Art Camp
magic came from the artistic talents of everyone at the camp. We always have
some idea of how an activity will go, but the enthusiasm and creativity of
our campers ensured that the results were beyond anything we could have
imagined. The camp was a true reflection of the artist’s talents, their
ideas, and their compassion.
The seven days of the camp (25th Dec’08- 31st Dec’08) were full of
inquisition and discovery for everyone involved, right from the artists, to
the students, to the organizers and volunteers Our students got the rare
opportunity to interact with some of the best artists of India and spent
some good time observing and painting with them.
The artists also had a chance to reflect on themselves and on the people
around them with evening programs and free time spent in discussion,
contributing something interesting and unique to the camp. A day trip to
Bhangarh and Abhaneri was organized where all the artists enjoyed each
others company in a relaxed and laid back atmosphere. It was nice to
discover that some of the artists turned out to be very good singers too!!
The final display of all the works was a treat to the eye and was immensely
appreciated by one and all. Everything, both during the sessions and in
final creations reflected a depth of thoughts and talents which was beyond
ones imagination. The camp came to a wistful end with everyone bidding adios
to one another but also with the hope that they would meet again at the next
Camp in 2009.
