Elephant
Safari for NMS Hostel Students
This weekend we at the hostel
went for an ‘Elephant Safari’ to Nahargarh Forest Reserve. Everyone
tried to find the best seat for themselves in the bus to see the beauty
of Pink City. On the way we saw Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal, Ambar fort and
many more scennic spots of Jaipur. As we entered the gate, we were
welcomed by turbaned Mahouts sitting on top of the elephants. It was a
treat to be welcomed by 21 elephants and they saluted with their raised
trunks. Bananas were also given to the hostlers to feed the elephants to
over come their fear. With great squeals of delight and loud shrieks of
fear, we all managed to feed a banana to each elephant. There was so
much shouting and screaming from the students as some of them had never
been so close to an elephant. Once, we were on the elephant, it was
another story. Riding on the elephant took us back to the royal era when
only the kings use to ride on these majestic beasts.
Most of the elephants feeling the heat often squirted a spray of water
on us. While on the top of the elephants we saw huge tigers roaring.
They were in their cages. We enjoyed taking the photos of the tigers. We
took about an hour to see the whole area including the tigers. It was a
very enjoyable outing we had. Even those elephants had names. We were in
the sanctuary for nearly three hours. After that we proceeded to Crystal
Palm for a lunch to Pizza Hut. It was not only an enjoyable outing but
also an experience we will never forget.
