Ms Sukriti Sen sings for NMS
Ms
Sukriti Sen an exponent of the Gwalior gharana was recently in NMS to
conduct a classical music work shop. She trained under the well known Gwalior gharana guru - Madhu Mudgal. Ms Sen has been learning music since
birth as she accompanied her Bengali parents to various Rabindra Sangeet
programs, even though she formally started out at the age of five.
Her first stage performance was at the YUVA MAHOTSAV in Delhi. She sings
with a band which specializes in fusion music and has toured all over
the globe.
Her other performances include jingles on TV and title song of serials
like ‘Meri Saheli’ and ‘Hum Pardesi Ho Gaye’.
She is one of the few people who prefer to do ‘riyaz’ with a tanpura
rather than with the harmonium and works with a state-of-the-art device
called the Electric Tanpura.
Not only is Ms Sen a singer par excellence (her rendation of ‘Kesariya Balma’ left us breathless) but also a wonderful and warm human being.
