Swimming
prodigy of NMS
Shriya Bhagalia, student
of Grade IX-A showed interest in learning to swim and was selected by
her coach for Competitive training in swimming. With dedication and
regular practice she reached interschool level during year 2005-06. She
acquired medals in all the Inter-school competitions that she
participated in as a student of Neerja Modi School.
She participated and won 4 medals at the Greater Mumbai Aquatics
Association District level Championships held in Mumbai in April 2007.
In Jaipur, She won 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal during the State
level championships held in June 2007.
Shriya was also selected to represent Rajasthan State in the National
Womens Open Swimmimg Championships held in Mumbai in December 2007, and
she was the youngest participant member of the State team!
Recently, in April 2008, she won the District Runners-up Trophy in
Jaipur and was selected to compete in the State level Swimming
Championships held in Rajsamand District. Here again, she won 1 Gold, 1
Silver and 4 Bronze medals.
Even though Shriya started swimming at the late age of 10, she has
graduated well to achieve 35 medals and 3 trophies. Thanks to the
non-tiring efforts and encouragement from her school, her parents, and
classmates. Her next aim is to work towards winning laurels at the
National level competitions, for which she is training daily.
