Fostering new
tie
A group of 18 students and two teachers from Indian High School, Dubai
visited Neerja Modi School to be a part of the Neerja Modi School T-20
Cricket World Cup. Despite the fact that they did not reach the finals
of the tournament, they did win the fair play trophy. The group was here
for 8 days and apart from playing matches, they also had the opportunity
to go sightseeing in and around Jaipur. The students visited all the
historical monuments in Jaipur and took pleasure in exploring the rich
and vibrant cultural heritage of Rajasthan. They visited Ajmer and
Pushkar as well.
The students were given a warm send off at the school poolside. A grand
dinner had been organized for them. The students thoroughly enjoyed this
get together. They played antakshri with the NMS residents. Siddharth
Luhadia and Shubham Goyal of NMS entertained the guests with some
instrumental music. The evening rounded of with a dance performance by
the Indian High School boys.
Mr.Tapan Das , Head of the Human Performance Dept in Indian High School,
Dubai is one of the most qualified sports instructors in UAE. His
contribution towards sports in UAE has been extremely instrumental. This
was his second visit to Neerja Modi School. He was interviewed by our
school students. A brief of the interview:
How has your Rajasthan experience been so far?
Tapan: It’s been wonderful. I am touched by the hospitality and am in
awe of the all that this place has to offer.
Is there any difference between sports infrastructure and facilities
in India and Dubai?
Tapan: Yes, there is a lot of difference. In Dubai most of the schools
have just one ground which is used as a multipurpose ground. There is a
major space constrain. We also don’t have a full fledged Cricket academy
for students to make use of. We therefore look forward to bringing our
students to India and providing them with an opportunity to play with
Indian students who I feel are much more experienced.
What do you think of the sports facilities at Neerja Modi School?
Tapan: I was very impressed by the sports facilities here. It’s great to
see an Indian School that offers so much to students. You have a
wonderful Cricket Ground and it was a pleasure playing here. I look
forward to bringing my students to your school every year.
Would you like to get involved in other exchange programs as well?
Tapan: Definitely. We are looking forward to more exchange programs with
your school. As I said earlier, we hope to be here every year and also
look forward to your students visiting us in Dubai. I am extremely
thankful to your school for being such wonderful hosts.
