Theatre Workshop by Sukesh Arora  (08-Jan-07 to 20-Jan-07)

A theatre workshop was conducted at Neerja Modi School from 8th January to 20th January 07. Mr. Imran khan a visiting faculty at the university of Delhi and ‘MCRC’ Jamia Milia Islamia University and Mr. Sukesh Arora an awardee of Royal Holoway College, University of London and Director of Imago of Deckchair theatre from Australia conducted the workshop in the school premises.

The final presentation of the same was put up for the parents and students performed in six groups on 20th January 07 where in ideas, story enhancement and development was all done by the students under the guidance of Mr. Imran & Mr. Sukesh. The parents were enchanted to see the performance put up by all the students. The best part of the event was children in particular enjoyed the story ….. “The Magical Nose” where in the elephants had regular noses but due to a punishment given, one of them has a long nose, eventually when they find out the merits of having a long nose they all convert their tiny nose to LONG .................. .

Another story built up by the children was “The Picnic”, the one where they go on a picnic and how the events take place making their trip memorable.

The best part of the event was that one hundred and seventy six students participated in all and got the opportunity to explore their acting, story, writing and concept building. The blend of education and theatre was definitely admirable.
