Duke of
Edinburgh – Internatinal Award for Young People
Neerja Modi School added
yet another feather in its cap by introducing the Duke of Edinburgh –
International Award For Young People to recognise outstanding
contribution towards voluntary services.
The International Award programme presents the young people with an
individual challenge to surpass the set benchmark by attaining qualities
of perseverance, self reliance, responsibilities towards themselves and
the society in general.
Young people of ages 14-25 years undertake voluntary activities in the
four fields set by the oganisation viz service, adventure, skills and
interest and physical recreation.
These activities are intended to compliment each other and provide a
balanced development of the youngster
There are three separate awards under this programme – Gold, Silver,
Bronze. Those who achieve an award earn the appropriate badge and
certificate.
Ms. Lata Vaidyanathan, Principal Modern School, New Delhi and the
National coordinator for Duke of Edinburgh awards visited NMS to apprise
of this scheme. She also issued the certificates to NMS and Nischay
Girls School to operate this project.
