Visit by Senators & Members of ACYPL, USA

A 7-member bi-partisan delegation including 4 state senators from the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) Washington D.C. visited the school on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. The visit was coordinated by the Public affairs office of the American Embassy in New Delhi.

The delegates were :-
The Honorable Mr. Bruce Starr, Member, Oregon State Senate
The Honorable Mr. Bill Wielechowski, Member, Alaska State Senate
The Honorable Mr. John Pippy, Member, Pennsylvania State Senate
The Honorable Cory Gardner, Minority Whip, Colorado House of Representatives
Ms. Tracey Hester, Director, Government Affairs, Target
Ms. Angie Postal, Grassroots Organizer, Planned Parenthood of St. Louis
Mr. Joseph Jones, Director, Government Affairs, lowa Finance Authority

On their arrival in the school the delegates were given a traditional welcome, after which they undertook a school tour. They then participated in a discussion on the Education system in India. Mr. Saurabh Modi (Chairman) Neerja Modi School initiated the discussion by highlighting some of the salient features of our education system and drawing the delegates attention to the large brain bank in the country. The other speakers were Mr. Damodar Goyal, President of unaided private school, Mrs. K. Khanna (Principal) Neerja Modi School and Ms. Olivia Katz exchange program teacher at NMS campus from U.S. The delegates showed keen interest in understanding our education system.

The parliamentary delegates also visited Nischay School (the community service program of Neerja Modi School) and were awed to see how private initiative has successfully provided quality education to the poorest section of the society.
