Kangaroo Kids, Third Annual Sports Day
14th December, 2003

The theme of this year’s Sports Day was “Olympics” where young athletes tried mini Olympic sprints. First impressions are lasting ones, how true! And so they began with grandeur – the function began with the traditional torch lighting ceremony followed by unfurling of the school flag. Well! The children got down to brass tracks, keeping in mind the motto of the Olympics ‘Citus Altius  Fortius – faster higher, stronger’, like upcoming sports stars. The event gave a platform to the children of our school to put their best foot forward as every event comprised of excitement galore. The perfectly co-ordinated fun filled event began with the Yoga display. They performed the asanas with near perfect synchronization.

Charming young pairs of Sr. Kg students did their best in the three-legged race, the hurdle race, the swimming race and the archery race. Just when it seems there’s no place in sports for naive and innocent toddlers, one got the chance to watch a bunch of kindergartners play league soccer, yes it was the football race.

Then followed the Jr. Kg with the throw ball race and the swimming relay- another spectacular race, which took everyone by surprise. The hop skip and jump race, and the hockey race were races with a difference.

The best was saved for the last – a beautiful drill by the little moppets of Kangaroo Kids was really impressive. It was enthralling to watch the parents participating in the basket ball race, the sack race and the most exciting was the wheel barrow race and the back to back ball balance race. A truly exhilarating performance by all, who participated with honesty and the will to win, making the show a success. The winners in the first, second and third positions were awarded with medals.

The Director of the school Ms. Arpita Modi thanked the parents and the teachers for their support in making the program a big success. Indeed a great ending to a great show.
