A step ahead with Harker

Ms. Anita Chetty, Science Department Chair at Harker School, USA was on a day’s visit to school on 8 August, 2007 to discuss the itinerary for the Harker Student visit to NMS.

Her discussion with the Principal & faculty of NMS hovered around the education system, curriculum and other areas where the 2 schools can collaborate in future.

Interacting with students of Grade XII she proposed an invitation to NMS students to attend the Science Symposium at Harker in March 2008. The Harker Science Symposium is a grand event attended by leading scientists, researchers & media personalities of US. It is sponsored by INTEL & GOOGLE.

Her suggestions to invoke student interest in scientific research were equally valuable. Brilliant ideas for promoting science research programmes like access to Harker online journal, video conferencing for students between the 2 schools and identifying teams in both schools to work on AIDS awareness came forth during her discussion with the science faculty of NMS. They outlined the framework of the new online science projects that the 2 partner schools shall embark open in the new academy session.

She worked out the details of the activities proposed for the Harker student team visiting NMS later in the year with International Program Department. They came up with projects on natural vegetation, a Medical camp and workshops on Indian literature, bluepottery, rangoli & turban tying and other educational projects.

She was awed by the commitment & dedication of the school fraternity towards the Nischay Girls School. In her words, “Nischay has stirred my soul. It is inspired me. I will certainly do all I can to support this cause”. She proposed many activities which the Harker students would love to do for the Nischay School like organizing medical camp; teach a form of art or sport like baseball.
