Besides the Art and Craft Activity which is conducted as part of the
School Curriculum the students of Grade I to III celebrated Craft Day on
April 18, 2003.
These hands-on
activities are encouraged in order to nurture finger skills and develop
proficiency in fine motor movements. They also imbibe in them an
appreciation of colour, texture and aesthetics in general.
Little children of Grade
I prepared cards which involved cutting and pasting. Giving them ample
scope for creativity and imaginative free play. They cut thin kite paper
into abstract shapes and pasted them on handmade sheets folded to form
cards. These have been displayed prominently in their classrooms giving
them a sense of pride in their achievement.
Students of Grade II
made enchanting Headgears. The boys made feathers with coloured paper
and straw and embellished their hats where as girls made beautiful
conical hats decorated with flowers and beads. Seeing the boys with
their hats on it sure felt like a horde of Red Indians had infiltrated
into the School.
Boys and girls of Grade
III were assigned a task of greater dexterity. They learnt and prepared
roses with coloured fabric. The joy of creation merged with the thrill
of novelty kept the little ones completely engrossed for over an hour.
