Education
towards World Standards – A Global Citizen
One of the most contentious issues that fall under the popular rubric of
‘globalization’ is GLOBAL EDUCATION. Accordingly, schools today must
ensure that students develop a broad understanding of the world,
proficiency in other languages and knowledge of other cultures. To be a
global citizen, education patterns and pedagogy has to change and
incorporate skills that are required for living today and be successful
future citizens of the world. This brings in the need of an
“International Educational Program”.
Neerja Modi School in its endeavor to take students to world standards
has already started the International General Certificate for Secondary
Education (IGSCE) at the Grade IX Level. Having taken on the first step,
the school has now extended the International program to middle school
students (Grades VI, VII and VIII). The school organized an Orientation
Program for parents of middle school students, tuning them in with fine
nuances of the Checkpoint Program, the system, the books and the
examination pattern.
Principal, Mrs. K. Khanna, introduced the program and this was followed
by a power point presentation by Ms. Sarita Nathawat, the International
Program
Co-ordinator.
The Checkpoint Program lays a strong foundation towards IGCSE and equips
and prepares students to take on IGCSE and then the A Levels or AS
Levels.
The response has been overwhelming and enthusiastic and the school is
well on the path of becoming a world school, giving the best to every
child, keeping our cultural moorings intact and yet taking the child to
a world beyond.
