  Program Overview
India is an exciting and unknown land for many young students. Participating students and their parents appreciate the environment of a homestay program as an excellent way to learn about India and its unique culture and rich history.
Homestay programs are becoming ever more popular as the students return home impressed by the friendliness, openness, and generosity of the Indian people. They come to respect the values and the deep moral purpose of our country.

NMS homestay programs provide international students an opportunity to interact with Indian students and their families. It provides an insight into the Indian family system highlighting the Indian values.

Their parents are willing to send them to India because they believe that their child’s future requires that they need have an understanding OF THE WORLD THAT they live in and its diversities .

Qualifications
We invite students between the ages of 14 and 20, currently enrolled in a reputable school, to apply to this program. All applicants must have a functional command of the English language.

Applicants must read and agree to all program guidelines and policies set forth in the Participant Handbook.

Program Details
The students coming on NMS’s home stay program generally come from one of NMS’ partner schools; however, students not attending an affiliated institution can apply individually.

NMS is an English medium school and all classes( except the language classes ) are taught in English. The students are given a handbook which explains our program and encourages their wholehearted participation.

Duration of Stay
NMS organizes homestays ranging from a minimum period of a month to a maximum period of four months. NMS has two semesters per year: July 5th to November 5th and January 5th to April 5th. Students can apply to stay for all or part of one of these semesters.

The Students' Schedule
The program for exchange students typically runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The students attend classes from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. From 2pm until 4pm, three to four days each week, students participate in cultural exchange activities, sports, or short trips to neighborhood points of interest. Because the students need time to go shopping, write letters, or just rest from their busy schedule, NMS schedules periodic free afternoons. Weekends are left open, unless students wish to travel.

NMS invites all host families to participate in the scheduled activities with their visiting exchange students, but the program has been specifically designed to support the busy family who cannot always accompany the students during the day.

The Teacher Coordinators
NMS appoints Teacher Coordinators who are responsible for the happiness and wellbeing of exchange students during their time in India. These teacher coordinators are selected for their organizational and educational backgrounds and are completely dedicated to the idea of student cultural exchange programs.

They are responsible for arranging all the activities of the program (including a Welcome Party and Farewell Party). They find the students' host families, interview each one, develop the students' itinerary, run an orientation meeting for the families, and act as a liaison between the students and their host families. In addition, the Teacher Coordinator will teach many of the exchange students. The Teacher Coordinators are ready to answer any questions the visiting students, their families or the host family might have concerning the program before, during or after the stay.
